Electronic Arts announced today that Apex Legends Mobile will begin regional beta testing later this month. Only two regions will participate: India and the Philippines. The test will initially only be run on Android.
The initial beta will include a fairly small pool of players, with only 1,000 people from the aforementioned regions being able to participate. However, EA said more regions could be involved over the course of the year, and players on iOS will also have the opportunity to participate in testing. Naturally, we’ll keep you updated with news regarding the launch of Apex Legends Mobile in other countries as well.
EA has also revealed some important details about Apex Legends Mobile. We now know for sure that this will be a specially designed version of the battle royale, which will optimize the controls for touchscreen devices.
The difference between the two also means there won’t be cross-play between PC and the console version of Apex Legends, as is the case with Fortnite. As such, the game will have its own Battle Passes, collectible cosmetic items, and everything else.
Apex Legends Mobile will be a free to play game with in-game purchases. The release should take place before the end of the 2022 fiscal year, which in the United States begins on October 1, 2021 and ends on September 30, 2022.
